Add the famous War Admiral to your collection. A son of the great racehorse Man o` War, War Admiral, at 15-3 hands, was the epitome of great things in small packages. In 1937, owner Samuel J. Riddle entered War Admiral in the Kentucky Derby. War Admiral took the lead and held it to the end, winning by 1 3/4 lengths. He went on to win the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, capturing the 1937 Triple Crown. In 1938, he raced his underdog rival Seabiscuit in the Pimlico Special, a match that is still one of the greatest of all time. War Admiral was heavily favored but Seabiscuit won the race by four lengths. In July 2003, Universal Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment, brings Seabiscuit to the big screen. Based on the best-selling book Seabiscuit: An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand, the film stars Tobey Maguire as jockey Red Pollard; Chris Cooper as trainer Tom Smith; and Jeff Bridges as owner Charles Howard.
